Jonathon Humphreys - "scrum Philosophy"

Jonathon Humphreys delivers a session on the Ospreys Scrum Philosophy to Ospreys Community Coaches at Pyle RFC.

JONATHAN HUMPHREYS CONDUCTS A CLINIC ON 'SCRUMMAGE PHILOSOPHY'

A coaching seminar was held at Pyle RFC for coaches in the Ospreys Region. Ospreys coach, Jonathan Humphreys made a presentation followed by a practical session on the scrummage. The Pyle club pack, were used to demonstrate many aspects of scrummaging, with particular emphasis on the setup.

This insight into 'the dark art' was illuminating both to the players involved and to the coaches present. The coaches were invited to contribute to the session and many interesting points were raised and answered.

The practical session was followed by a very lively Question and Answer session both on scrummaging and other aspects of the game. Welsh Rugby Union referee Mark Jones was also in attendance and was able to clarify a number of grey areas.

Dan Owens, Ospreys Coach Development Officer said 'The event was another great success and we were delighted with the feedback from those coaches present. It was encouraging to see an increase in the number of coaches attending, particularly as we are receiving such substantial support from the senior Osprey coaches.'

We are very grateful to Jonathon and Mark for so willingly giving of their time and expertise... We would also like to thank Pyle Rugby Club for hosting the event.

The next event will be a clinic on Individual Skills, concentrating on The Offload and Continuity. This will be held at Dunvant Rugby Club on Wednesday 25th Febuary at 7p.m. and will be run by Gruff Rees, Ospreys Skills Coach. Please make every effort to attend and invite all your coaching colleagues
