Ospreys help out at Porthcawl RFC

Porthcawl RFC was the latest community club to host a group of Ospreys players as part of their summer long community outreach programme at the weekend.

Throughout the summer, players have been getting their hands dirty after volunteering to assist a number of projects out in the community, including working with the local authority refuse teams and assisting local rugby clubs with any odd jobs needed to prepare their ground for the new season.

The offer has seen players helping out at several clubs throughout the region including Severn Sisters RFC, Resolven RFC, Crynant and, on Saturday, Porthcawl RFC where they painted the pitch side perimeter railings.

Scott Baldwin, Andrew Bishop, Rhys Webb and Lloyd Evans were all present on the day and joined in with the painting, giving the club a fresh look in time for the new season to start.

Tracey Williams of Porthcawl RFC, said: “We were thrilled when we heard the Ospreys were willing to help us with our painting.  Its great to see the players getting involved with the community at a grassroots level, which provides a great example for our younger players. Osprey player Ryan Bevington started his career at Porthcawl RFC. He continues to be a great support and coaches our minis, juniors and seniors. As you can imagine, players and members of all ages are extremely proud of his achievements and are truly grateful for his continued support of his home club, including his father who is also Chairman of Porthcawl RFC.”
