Surgery for Hassler

Winger Jeff Hassler is set for a lengthy lay-off after it was confirmed that he will undergo surgery this week.

He suffered what was described as “a significant knee ligament injury” in the closing stages of Canada’s defeat to Romania two weekends ago, and Medical Performance Manager, Chris Towers, confirmed the surgery today.

Towers said:

“Jeff sustained medial knee ligament damage and following consultation it was clear that the best course of treatment is surgery. He is being operated on this week and will be looking at a rehab period of up to five months.”
