The Ospreys have agreed a new commercial deal with FIOL Prosecco that sees the Italian company becoming an official supplier to the Liberty Stadium as well as the logo continuing on the team’s shorts.
FIOL also becomes the official events partner of Ospreys Rugby as well as a partner of the London Ospreys Business Network, the second Italian sponsor of the Ospreys to widen their relationship in this way following on Segafredo Zanetti, now also the official coffee supplier to the stadium.
The relationship between the Ospreys and FIOL was first launched in the 2012/13 season and is one of a growing number of commercial partnerships for the Ospreys in Italy since the introduction of teams from that country to the PRO12 in 2010.
In addition, the Ospreys also enjoy a number of successful sister club agreements with Italian sides which have seen the likes of Scott Baldwin spend time in Italy as part of his development while Italian age-grade cap Simone Ragusi, who played at the Liberty Stadium for Benetton Treviso on the opening day of this season, benefited from a year in the Ospreys age-grade system in 2011/12, turning out for Bridgend Ravens while in the region.
Yarnie Guthrie, Ospreys Commercial Manager, commented:
“We are delighted to be able to announce this wider partnership that sees FIOL becoming not only our official events partner and an official partner of the London Ospreys, but also will see them working closely with the Liberty Stadium as an official supplier to one of Wales’ leading sporting and hospitality venues.
“As a business we see real value in the Italian market place, with incredible growth potential for rugby in the coming years. It speaks volumes about the strength of our business that Italian companies see Ospreys Rugby as a suitable platform to promote and help grow their brand.
“We already have in place a number of successful commercial and sporting partnerships and FIOL is an innovative, forward thinking and successful Italian brand looking to grow into the UK market, which makes working in partnership with an organisation like the Ospreys, with a similarly progressive outlook, absolute sense.
“The FIOL logo is prominent on our kit once again this season, and hopefully for many more to come as we continue to grow this partnership both in the UK and in Italy.”
Giacomo Ciani Bassetti, Head of Strategic Development for FIOL Prosecco, stated:
“Our continued association with Ospreys Rugby is one that we are immensely proud of. The two brands share many of the same values; we are passionate about what we do and wanting to be the very best. Hopefully we can celebrate future Ospreys success together with our Prosecco, as well as helping the Liberty Stadium offer their customers something special for their own celebrations.”
Prosecco is a traditional sparkling white wine, usually made from Glera, or ‘Prosecco’ grapes, in Veneto, to the north of Treviso; FIOL is distributed in the United Kingdom by Enotria World Wine and can now be enjoyed at home by ordering direct here.
