Welcome to the Katie Phillips Stadium

The Ospreys have unveiled the Katie Phillips Stadium as the new name of their Liberty Stadium home, following a high profile public competition to help rename the iconic, Swansea venue.

Katie was chosen at random from hundreds of supporters who have renewed their membership for the 2015/16 season and have been a member for each season since the region first moved to the venue in the summer of 2005.

The temporary name change will take place for Friday night’s Ospreys V Glasgow match, kicking off at 7.35pm.

Katie Phillips of Mayals, is 18 and currently at Gower College Swansea undertaking A levels in Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry.

Both Katie and her mum Helen are regular attendees of matches at Liberty Stadium and loyal Ospreys supporters, having held their season tickets for ten years.   Both will be present at the formal unveiling ceremony on Friday afternoon and are delighted with the new, albeit temporary, re-branding of the stadium.

Katie said: “I love spending an afternoon watching the rugby and cheering for the Ospreys.  My mum, my grandfather and me are their biggest fans and it’s something we enjoy doing as a family.  To have my favourite sports team rename their ground after me is a huge honour, I still can’t believe I won and I can’t wait for next season already.”

Andrew Hore, Ospreys Rugby Chief Executive said: “The competition was really well received by our supporters and I am delighted to say congratulations to our winner Katie, clearly a loyal and passionate supporter having been a member for 10 years.

“It’s important that we recognise the contribution to the region that our loyal season members make, week in, week out, which is why we wanted to honour one lucky supporter in this way.

“We are also incredibly grateful to our partners at Liberty Properties, who have owned the naming rights for the stadium since day one, for agreeing to the switch which allows us to honour a true Osprey in this fashion.”

The 2015 season membership campaign also features the hashtag - #OurBloodIsBlack – across the club’s social media activity which will announce further incentives for season members.

The Ospreys are offering one of the best value professional rugby 2015 season memberships in the whole of the UK. Adult renewals have until the 10th May to benefit from a price freeze for the second year in a row with supporters paying less now than they did for membership when the Ospreys first moved to their new home in 2005. Renewals are available from £99 (standard seating), with renewals for premium seating also frozen at £160 – less than the price of a standard membership three years ago.
