Josh Matavesi will make his first start of the 2015 Pacific Nations Cup on Wednesday, while Tyler Ardron will again captain Canada in the next round of fixtures.
After two appearances off the bench as Fiji recorded a win and a draw in their opening two rounds, Matavesi has been selected at outside half for the game against Japan. His former Ospreys colleague, Tevita Cavubati, continues in the second row.
Meanwhile, skipper Ardron is again named at eight as Canada face Samoa still looking for their first win of the summer. His fellow Osprey, Jeff Hassler, has not been selected.
Both game are being played at BMO Field in Toronto.
