Ospreys Rugby has welcomed the weekend announcement that Swansea City FC has concluded a deal to take over operational control of the Liberty Stadium.
Roger Blyth, Chairman, Ospreys Rugby, said:
“We are delighted to have been able to reach agreement with both Swansea City FC and the City and County of Swansea on the future operations of Liberty Stadium.
“It is an agreement which suits all parties and secures our long-term future at the stadium in line with the original deal in place since 2005, allowing us to continue calling Liberty Stadium our home for the next 37 years.
“The agreement releases the business from any future stadium liabilities and the new operational structure provides clarity and certainty on both future income and expenditure, enabling us to plan for the medium and long term with security. It also allows for greater flexibility around matchday operations, offering us exciting opportunities to improve the Liberty Stadium experience for all supporters.
“We will continue to have representation on the board of the Stadium Management Company, enabling us to ensure the best interests of Ospreys Rugby. As a partner of Swansea City FC at the Liberty Stadium since it’s inception we have always enjoyed a very strong working relationship and would expect that to remain the case now that our long-term future at the venue is secure.”
