Ospreys v Cardiff

Ospreys come away victorious over Cardiff, winning a close battle at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The opening 20 minutes were an even battle, with both sides putting in some big hits and making line breaks. 

Cardiff seemed to targeting Max Nagy early on with the high ball, but the full back had no problem plucking the ball from the air.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! Owen Williams put a clinical pass out wide to Dom Morris who finished well to score his first try for the Ospreys. O.Williams converted, 7-0.

Ospreys went close almost immediately after. Keelan Giles sent two Cardiff players for a hotdog before offloading inside, but a recovering Cardiff defender was able to stop the attack.

Cardiff were next to score through a rolling maul with Belcher claiming the try. De Beer converted, 7-7.

Cardiff scored again on the brink of half time with Botham going over for the try. De Beer converted, 14-7

Despite a strong first half from the Ospreys, it was Cardiff who went in with the lead.

 

HALF-TIME – OSPREYS 7, CARDIFF 14.

 

TRY FOR OSPREYS! The boys came out flying in the second half. Jack Walsh smashed through with a superb line break before making a perfectly timed pass for Keelan Giles who out speed the last Cardiff man to go over for the try! Owen Williams converted from a tough angle.

MASSIVE HIT FROM DEAVESY. The flanker was playing like a man possessed as he dumped one of the Cardiff big men.

Jack Walsh moved with another breakthrough the middle, this time finding Reuben Morgan-Williams before being stopped by a Cardiff defender. The Aussie looked sharp since coming on at half-time.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! Some quick thinking from Luke Davies as he passed it down the blindside to Jack Walsh who beat a defender to finish in the corner. He converts a tough kick, 21-14.

Cardiff answered back with a score of their own. Despite a dominant second half from the Ospreys, Cardiff made it level after a quick break. 21-21.

TRY FOR OSPREYS! The away team were able to steal possession from the Ospreys close to the Cardiff line, they popped it back but Morgan Morse moved first and stole the ball to score. Walsh converts, 28-21.

Cardiff hit back right at the death but are unable to convert and the Ospreys saw out the game for our first win of the 23/24 season.
