The waiting is almost over for Ospreys fans, as the region prepares to take the wraps off the brand new 2009/10 Ospreys home and away shirts at a Liberty Stadium press conference on Thursday morning.
Having established itself as one of the biggest selling shirts in the northern hemisphere domestic game in recent seasons, the unveiling of the new Ospreys jersey is always eagerly anticipated, and it will be no different this year as supporters wait to discover what design kit manufacturers Kooga have come up with for the new season.
Supporters will be able to pre-order the new shirts via this website or at the Ospreys Superstore from Friday morning, with the delivery date of the jersey anticipated to be towards the end of September, as Bill Newton, Managing Director of Kooga explained:
“The new shirts will be available to supporters a month later than usual, and we apologise to Ospreys fans for this situation, which is entirely down to the international credit crunch. Everybody in the sportswear business has felt the impact of the recession, with retailers and manufacturers of all sizes suffering, and a number of high profile casualties. The situation has directly led to delays in the supply of certain stock, but fans will be able to get their hands on the new Osprey shirt next month.
“I’m sure that when they see it, Ospreys fans will agree that it’s the best design yet and it will once again prove to be extremely popular with supporters.”
There will be two versions of the home jersey available to purchase, a ‘technical’ version, which is an exact replica of the shirt worn by players on a matchday incorporating the Liquid Pro technology, and a ‘supporters’ version, which is a more relaxed fit for comfort, while the away shirt will only be available in the ‘supporters’ version. By pre-ordering, fans will guarantee that they will be the first to get their hands on the new shirt, whatever version they purchase.
