Young prop gets off the mark to help Ospreys towards convincing Welsh derby win.
Speaking after the game the 21-year old told the waiting press that he was delighted to score his first try for the region. He said:
“I’m obviously delighted, it was a very memorable minute for me personally! It’s definitely a moment I’ll never forget, everybody remembers their first try I suppose. I enjoyed it, hopefully there’ll be many more.
“I just read it, saw that Shane was going and pushed forward. I try to offer something a bit different about the pitch, but there was a bit of luck involved in it as well. To be honest, in the heat of the moment you just go for it. I didn’t really think too much about it, I saw the only real option that I had and went for it.
“I’ve really enjoyed the season, I’ve been quite fortunate to get the opportunities that I’ve had. It’s about taking the chances as best I can, I’m enjoying each game as they come and I just want to keep playing. I hoped that I’d be involved this season, but still being young and with so many good props here I knew that I’d have to be patient. I’m really pleased with how it’s gone, it’s been better than I could have hoped for.
“It was difficult out there, it was frustrating at times, but that’s what we expected when we were preparing for the game. We knew that we’d have to be disciplined, that we’d have to work hard and keep plugging away and we got our reward.
“We want to end a high now, we’ve got a home game next weekend that we’re looking forward to. Hopefully there’ll be a big crowd and a good atmosphere, and I’m hoping that I’ll be involved again.”
