Cai Griffiths today confirmed that he has signed a contract with Aviva Premiership side London Irish for next season.
The 28-year old Bangor born prop is out of contract at the end of this season and will move to the Madejski Stadium after nine years with the Ospreys. He moved to the region in the summer of 2003 from Caernarfon RFC ahead of the first ever season of regional rugby and made 115 appearances in an Ospreys shirt.
Speaking after confirming the move, Cai said:
“I’ve had a great nine years with the region, moving down from North Wales it has become my home and I’m proud to have been able to represent the Ospreys over 100 times.
“I’m obviously sad to be moving on, but it has given me an exciting opportunity in a new environment. The Ospreys will still be special to me though and I’m sure that the team, my friends, will continue to lead the way in Wales next season.”
Andrew Hore, Chief Operations Officer, added:
“Cai has always been an outstanding servant to the region and we wish him the very best of luck. There will always be a warm welcome for him should he visit the Liberty Stadium in the future.”
