Contact Area Coaching Seminar

Coach Development team address the "Contact Area" with Filo Tiatia at Dunvant RFC

This past Wednesday (12th November) the Ospreys Coach Development Team held the first of a series of seminars and clinics for coaches within the region. Ospreys Back Row forward and U18 Coach Filo Tiatia presented a comprehensive session on the 'Contact Area', for Level One and Level Two coaches in attendance at Dunvant RFC.

The practical session was followed by a question and answer session which was also attended by leading WRU referee James Jones, whom answered extensive questions in relation to the contact area and ELVs.

Tony Thomas, Coach Development Officer for the Ospreys region said "Here in Ospreylia we are determined to take the lead in coach development. In addition to regular UKCC coaching courses, we intend to deliver a comprehensive programme of continued professional development seminars and workshops to assist all coaches in the region to further develop their skills."

Feedback received from those present was very positive and comment was passed that the session was extremely beneficial and that more of the same would be greatly appreciated.

On behalf of the Coach Development team, we would like to extend our thanks to the staff and players of Dunvant RFC for their co-operation and enthusiasm.

The next session, also on the 'Contact Area', will be delivered by Andrew 'Bully' Millward, Ospreys Regional Performance Manager, at Pyle RFC starting promptly at 7 p.m., Wednesday 19th November 2008. All Level One and Two coaches are welcome to attend.
