In the second of the East v West Under 16's inter-regional battles the team from the West were victorious again.
Following on from last week's Under 16's Ospreys East v West Development side's match where the team from the West came out on top, Llandarcy last night hosted the second of the inter-regional games, where it was the turn of the main under 16's sides from the region to take each other on in the WRU Regional Age Grade league for inter-regional pride.
The development team from the West won the first of the battles 38 - 26 in an intense and fast flowing game so the team from the East were hoping to use their home advantage to even the scores.
However it was the young men from Western Ospreylia who dominated the game from the first minute. Their strong attacking play proved too much for the East's defence with the first try being scored by Llyr Davies after just 7 minutes. Despite their impressive play, the team from the West's kicking was not on form with none of their conversions making it between the posts.
The team from the East came back into the game and despite not being able to get over the try line themselves in the first half, they held out against the West team's powerful offensive play. That was until one minute before half time when Steffan Gibbon slipped over for the West's second try of the game.
The Under 16's West team dominated the second half in much the same way as they had the first half. Two tries from Keelan Giles and Reuben Morgan Williams at the end of the third quarter closed out the game for the visiting side.
A late conciliatory try by Garin Lougher, converted by Stuart Floyd Ellis were the only points for the East in what turned out to be a fairly one sided affair.
Final Score: Ospreys Under 16's East 7 - 20 Ospreys Under 16's West.
