After losing by 31 points to 24 against the Blues the Young Ospreys under 20's will now have to beat the Scarlets on the 3rd January if they are going to achieve a third successive Reebok Final.
The Final which is scheduled to be played at St Helens, Swansea on the 10th January would certainly be boosted by the presence of the home Region, but to achieve it they are going to have to complete a double over the Scarlets. In the game at South Wales Police RFC on Wednesday 6th December the Young Ospreys were certainly second best throughout and it was a late try by centre Alex Wilkins (pictured) which at least brought the consolation of a bonus point for being within seven points of the winners; the second time they've achieved that against the Blues this season. So really the teams are not that far apart and a win over the Scarlets would certainly see the Young Ospreys go to the Final with the belief that they could succeed. On the evening Young Osprey tries were scored by Jason Howells, Rhys Webb and Wilkins; while Leigh Halfpenny kicked a penalty and three conversions.
