Are you 16 – 18 and not in education, training or employment? Unsure of your future plans or interested in working with children or in sport? An Ospreys in the Community Traineeship could be for you.
Ospreys in the Community will be running a part-timetraineeship programme starting this November, with a number of workshops and sessions that will allow all learners the opportunity to:
- - Gain a Sports Leaders UK Qualification
- - Gain valuable, hands on work experience with Ospreys in the Community
- - Learn about the different opportunities available in further education, volunteering, coaching and employment
- - Develop employability skills
The programme starts on Wednesday 15th November and will run for 5 weeks, finishing just before Christmas in preparation for a new year with new ideas.
Trainees will earn £30 per week and receive a transport allowance.
Here is what Sam Jukes, one of last year’s trainees, said about his experience:
“I thoroughly enjoyed the traineeship from start to finish. It was a great opportunity to develop myself as a person overall, whilst fine-tuning my skills. The programme also helped me develop my confidence, which is one of the things I set out to achieve.
“My highlight of the traineeship was working on the Ospreys Rugby training camps because I got to experience a different side of things. I’ve been to training camps before as a child, but coaching in them is just as fun! It also helped me improve my communication skills, which is something you need when coaching.
“I would definitely recommend the traineeship because it was even better than I expected. The visits to the BT Tower, the Liberty Stadium and the MPCT were great and I would love to do it all over again.”
Ospreys in the Community is working in partnership with Careers Wales to identify those who are eligible for the programme. For more information or to sign up, please speak to your local Careers Wales Adviser or send an e-mail to dorian.evans@ospreysrugby.com for more information.
