The Ospreys U18's suffered their fifth successive loss in the WRU Regional Championship as they fell to a 18-10 defeat against the Cardiff Blues at Llandarcy yesterday.
A second half Eyasses comeback wasn’t enough to topple the undefeated Cardiff team.
Early on, the Blues managed to stamp their authority on the game as hooker, Liam Belcher crashed over for his teams first try.
The Blues started to build up some momentum and two Tom MaCloon penalties extended their lead to eleven points.
The Eyasses looked to attack but were unable to hold onto the ball in the contact area. The ball was hacked free and Blues flanker, Mathew Marley capitalised on the error to score a well deserved try, converted by MaCloon.
The young Ospreys team found themselves down to fourteen men as Jack Powell was sent to the sin bin due to repeated infringements at the scrum. But Ospreys’ Luke Price grabbed a three-pointer for his team before the half-time whistle sounded.
As the second half started, the Eyasses absorbed an onslaught of Blues pressure before starting an attack of their own, which saw scrum-half, Dan Brooks, cross the whitewash for a hard-worked score. Price converted.
The Eyasses had their tails up and looked to put the Blues defence to the sword. Some solid phases and threatening set plays kept the Cardiff team on the back foot but their stubborn defence held firm to see the game out on top and maintain their unbeaten record.
