Four Ospreys named in Wales squad for Australia game

Warren Gatland has named four Ospreys in his Wales team to face Australia in the second match of the 2024 Autumn Nations Series at Principality Stadium on Sunday 17 November (KO 16.10h GMT, live on TNT Sports and S4C).

Adam Beard, Dewi Lake and Gareth Thomas retain their spots, with Jac Morgan coming in to start on the openside .

There are four changes to the starting XV from last weekend’s match against Fiji.

James Botham and Jac Morgan come into the back row alongside Aaron Wainwright.

Ellis Bevan starts at scrum half and Tom Rogers is named on the wing.

There are three changes among the Wales replacements: Tommy Reffell provides the back row cover, while Rhodri Williams and Eddie James join Sam Costelow as the replacement backs.

Gatland said: “We have had honest reviews after last week’s match. There were some things we did well that we are looking to build on, but we need to be more accurate and disciplined especially in key moments.

"We’re expecting an Australia side on a high after their win against England. They are a much-improved side since the summer and have played a number of Test matches since we last met. We know we need to put in an 80-minute performance on Sunday.”

Mae Prif Hyfforddwr Cymru Warren Gatland wedi enwi ei dîm i wynebu Awstralia yn ail gêm Cyfres yr Hydref 2024 yn Stadiwm Principality, ddydd Sul 17 Tachwedd am 4.10pm. (Bydd yr ornest yn fyw ar S4C a TNT Sports).

Mae pedwar newid o’r tîm ddechreuodd yr ornest yn erbyn Fiji ddydd Sul diwethaf gyda dau o’r newidiadau hynny yn y rheng ôl.

Tra bo Aaron Wainwright yn parhau’n wythwr, mae’r blaen asgellwyr James Botham a Jac Morgan wedi eu dewis i herio’r Wallabies.

Mae’r ddau newid arall yn gweld Ellis Bevan yn dechrau’n fewnwr a Tom Rogers ar yr asgell.

Mae tri newid pellach ymhlith yr eilyddion: Bydd Tommy Reffell yn cynnig opsiyniau o safbwynt y rheng ôl tra bydd Rhodri Williams ac Eddie James yn ymuno â Sam Costelow fel yr olwyr ar y fainc.

Dywedodd Warren Gatland: “Ry’n ni wedi bod yn onest iawn gyda’n gilydd wedi i ni edrych yn ôl ar y gêm ddiwethaf. Fe wnaethon rai pethau’n dda a’r bwriad yw adeiladu ar yr agweddau hynny’r penwythnos yma.

“Wedi dweud hynny, mae angen i ni fod yn fwy cywir a disgybledig – yn enwedig ar yr eiliadau allweddol hynny yn ystod gemau.

“Bydd Awstralia ar ben eu digon yn dilyn eu buddugoliaeth yn erbyn Lloegr. Maen nhw wedi gwella’n sylweddol ers i ni deithio yno dros yr haf ac maen nhw wedi chwarae nifer o gemau cystadlaeuol ers hynny hefyd.

“Ry’n ni gyd yn gwybod bod yn rhaid i ni berfformio am yr 80 munud cyfan ddydd Sul yma.”
