HUGE DEMAND FOR KINGS OF LEON SWANSEA DATE

Over 18,000 tickets have been sold for the Kings of Leon concert at Liberty Stadium on July 2, just hours after going on sale.

Ticket avenues opened at 9am this morning, and there has been huge demand ever since, with queues forming at the Liberty Stadium from early morning. The concert is produced by the award-winning Orchard, Wales’ largest independent music promoter, whose director Pablo Janczur said:

“The people of Swansea and indeed across the UK have given a massively positive response to the Kings of Leon announcement. This is the biggest single outdoor concert in Wales this summer, and we are really chuffed that our partnership with the team at Liberty Stadium has made such a great early impact. There are still lots of tickets to sell though, as we have a capacity of 25,000, so people need to grab them while they are still available.

The Swansea date has been added to a handful of UK dates for the multiple Platinum selling, multiple Grammy and BRIT award winning Followill family band from Tennessee, before they embark on a massive tour of the US in the summer.

This summer's tour follows the release of Kings of Leon's Grammy nominated sixth album Mechanical Bull, which entered the UK charts at Number 1, their fourth album in a row to achieve this feat.

They have headlined the world's biggest festivals including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Coachella, and this summer headline Sunday night at the Isle of Wight festival.

The Kings of Leon announcement makes it a very busy summer for Orchard, with Elvis Costello at the Brangwyn Hall, Paul Weller in Cardiff Castle, Tom Jones and Jessie J in north Wales, Ponty’s Big Weekend, Merthyr Rock, and Burt Bacharach, Gregory Porter and Laura Mvula at Brecon Jazz.

Orchard won the Regional Promoter of the Year Award in the 2013 UK Live Music Business Awards for their work on some 200 concerts and festivals, including Ponty’s Big Weekend and Brecon Jazz. This summer they are bringing Elvis Costello to the Brangwyn Hall, and Paul Weller to Cardiff Castle. Last year the company shared the Production Partnership of the Year prize with Conwy Council in the 2013 National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) Awards for their Access All Eirias concert in North Wales, which this summer hosts Tom Jones.
