The Ospreys are delighted to confirm that rising star Huw Sutton has put pen to paper on a new contract.
Huw Sutton, who came through the Swansea University arm of the Ospreys pathway, gained plaudits from the media for his performances last season. He remains a key part of the Ospreys' strategic plan aimed at nurturing pathway talent.
The young lock made his debut for the Ospreys in the 21/22 season in the Heineken Champions Cup and has made 17 appearances for the team since.
Toby Booth, Head Coach of the Ospreys, expressed his excitement about Sutton's commitment: “It’s great that another young player has trusted us with their future…he is in good hands! Everyone has seen our commitment and success in developing our own and we’re looking forward to seeing him progress in the coming years.”
Sutton spoke about his decision to extend his stay: ”It's great to be able to commit my future to the Ospreys. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team's successes and achieving our ambitions in the future.
“Similarly to Nagy, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Ospreys and Swansea University for their contributions towards my development, they’ve both been instrumental in where I am now as a player.”
The Ospreys see this as a pivotal move in securing a bright future for the squad. This contract renewal follows a series of strategic signings and player developments aimed at bolstering the ranks ahead of the upcoming BKT URC and European campaigns.
