Lloyd Ashley will miss the rest of the season while Hanno Dirksen also faces a spell on the sidelines.
Medical Performance Manager, Chris Towers, has confirmed that the pair both suffered ligament damage in last Sunday’s Champions Cup defeat to Exeter, ruling them both out of action.
Ashley will undergo surgery to repair the damage and, although Dirksen has escaped that fate, he too will be unavailable for a considerable length of time.
Towers said:
“Lloyd came off on Sunday after suffering knee ligament damage. We met with a specialist on Thursday afternoon and have agreed to pursue surgery as the best course of treatment, therefore ruling him out for the remainder of this season.
“In Hanno’s case he also left the field in the first half at Exeter, after damaging ankle ligaments. Although the scans have confirmed that he doesn’t require surgery, given the nature of the injury we are looking at a best case scenario of him being available to play again in six weeks.”
