In an exciting announcement that will excite the Ospreys’ fanbase and bring a wave of optimism for the upcoming seasons, the team announced today that fly half/full back Jack Walsh had signed a new deal with the team.
Walsh, equally adept at fly half and full back, has proven himself as a key player for the Ospreys with his ability to be a difference maker in tight matches.
Despite being 24, Walsh possesses an ability to command the game and dictate the tempo of an attack. His ability to read the game and make decisive plays has been instrumental in several key victories for the team, highlighting his importance to the squad.
The 5’11” Aussie has made 31 appearances for the Ospreys and scored 131 points in the process. He is the Ospreys’ top points scorer in the BKT URC so far this season with 51 points to his name already.
Head Coach, Toby Booth, said: “We were really happy to get this one over the line, Jack has been a real Swiss army knife for us since he joined. When you consider the skillset he possesses, his rugby league background, and his versatility, he’s a player that a lot of coaches would like.
Jack has great maturity and understands the modern game well. He enjoys the responsibility and puts his hand up in big moments. He also challenges himself and his teammates to get better every day which culturally is great.”
Speaking on his deal, Walsh added: “I’m enjoying my rugby at the moment, so it’s great to be able to continue my career with the Ospreys. There’s a quality bunch of players and coaches at this team, we’re a really tight-knit group.
“We’re going well this season with a young squad that has a lot of potential, and we’re focused on seeing what we can achieve, now and in the future.”
