The junior Community Rugby Festival has been confirmed for Judgement Day and will once again be supported by BT. ‘Mini Judgement Day’ as it has become known will feature up to 96 teams at both under 7 and under 8 levels from rugby clubs throughout Wales.
It will be staged at Leckwith Stadium, Cardiff, on the morning of Saturday 1 June. Leckwith Stadium is situated adjacent to Cardiff City Stadium, venue for this year’s Judgement Day event which will feature all four regional club teams playing in the final round of the BKT United Rugby Championship’s regular season.
BT will support the event for the fourth consecutive year, in what is one of the largest and most popular annual junior rugby festivals. All participants will be invited as special guests to the main Judgement Day event which features matches between Scarlets v Dragons (3pm) followed by Cardiff v Ospreys (5.15pm).
BT has sponsored all four Welsh professional teams – Ospreys, Cardiff Rugby, Scarlets and Dragons RFC – since 2014, making it one of the longest collaborative sponsorship deals in the history of Welsh regional rugby.
Nick Speed, BT Group’s Head of Nations and Regions, said: “We were proud recently to mark ten years of BT sponsoring the four professional clubs in Wales. Supporting community initiatives and grassroots rugby has been a central part of our partnership, so we're very pleased to be backing the Judgement Day Community Rugby Festival once again - now in its fourth year”.
Mini Judgement Day will be run by the community teams of the four clubs – The Cardiff Rugby Community Foundation, Dragons Community, Ospreys Foundation and Scarlets Community Foundation. Between them the community departments use rugby to engage tens of thousands of people every year across a range of projects.
To register to take part in the BT Judgement Day Community Rugby Festival clubs are advised to contact the community department of their regional club.
