Leading Welsh business signs up with Ospreys

Ospreys Rugby today confirmed details of a new commercial partnership with South Wales Wood Recycling that will see the Bridgend based company feature on the region’s home jersey for the next two year

Wales’ leading wood recycling company, they are one of a growing number of Welsh business to recognise the benefit of a relationship with the Ospreys, graduating in recent seasons from matchday hospitality and player sponsorship to become a premium commercial partner through kit sponsorship.

In 2014/15, South Wales Wood Recycling also sponsored the Ospreys Supporters Club’s Player of the Month award, while their support of rugby in the region includes various kit sponsorship with community clubs and schoolboy/youth representative teams.

A family run business established in 2003, the company has grown considerably and now handles up to 10,000 tonnes of waste wood per month, servicing many councils and waste management companies through Wales and England.

Dennis Burke, Managing Director of South Wales Wood Recycling, said:

“Having frequented the Liberty Stadium on many occasions, and purchased executive club seats in previous seasons, we are very impressed and excited about the Ospreys set up, which is why we want to offer our support and sponsorship to the team. I know how important for a club like the Ospreys to work with local businesses like ourselves, in order to help each other meet targets both on and off the field.

“As the leading wood recycling company in Wales, we are delighted to partner the leading team in Welsh rugby and we look forward to enjoying a great season.”

Yarnie Guthrie, Ospreys Commercial Manager, added:

“It gives me enormous pleasure to be able to welcome South Wales Wood Recycling onto our jersey. They were formed in 2003, the same year as the Ospreys and, as a local, family owned business that has gone from strength since then, there is real synergy between our businesses. It’s particularly pleasing to see a Bridgend based company going onto our jersey, ensuring visible support for the team from businesses the length and breadth of the region.

“As a company they are passionate about rugby and support the game at all levels. With a former professional player in the family, Kevin Burke, who played for Harlequins and London Irish among others, there is also a real understanding of what is needed for to function at the highest level.

“It has been great to see our relationship grow over recent seasons and we look forward to working closely in partnership with South Wales Wood Recycling for many years to come.”
