The Leicester Tigers are the current holders of the Gallagher Premiership, after losing only four games in the league last year. The team currently sit in 5th place in their league. They were the first team to retain the Heineken Champions Cup after winning in 2001 and 2002.
The Tigers were amongst the leaders of territory performance in last season’s Heineken Champions Cup. Only the champions, Stade Rochelais, had a higher territory percentage than them during last year’s tournament.
Another standout area for the Tigers in the Heineken Champions Cup last year was the lineout. With an average of 2.5 tries from the lineout per game, only Leinster were able to top them, by 0.1.
Leicester Tigers’ Freddie Steward made more support carries per game than any other player in last season’s Champions Cup, while teammate Tommy Reffell made 0.7 turnover won tackles per game, the second highest average among all player in the competition.
