Over 480 children from Neath and Port Talbot have taken part in an Ospreys Rugby Festival
Sponsored by estate agents Payton Jewell Caines, the one-day event was organised by Ospreys in the Community, which was hosted by Dwr-y-felin School. Every primary school in the NPT area was invited to participate with a total of 50 teams from 12 separate schools taking part in a full day of rugby activity, each team playing six games.
Ospreys staff and players helped to deliver the hugely successful day of rugby which saw mixed teams of boys and girls aged 10 and 11 years old benefit from the chance to enjoy the sport in a relaxed and non-competitive environment.
Paul Whapham, Foundation Manager, Ospreys in the Community, said: “Once again, the rugby festival organised by our community coaches has been a huge success. It’s fantastic to see both the children and school staff fully engaged, with many of those taking part enjoying their first taste of rugby action. We are always appreciate the backing of our corporate partners and we are very grateful to Payton Jewell Caines for their support in Neath.
“Days like this wouldn’t such a success without that support, as well as the unsung heroes of Dwr-y-felin’s rugby leaders and WRU hub officer.”
John Caines, Managing Director of Payton Jewell Caines added: “It’s an honour to help support and encourage sport at a junior level in the community. We are very proud of our work at a local level and really enjoyed the opportunity of working with the Ospreys team to deliver this great opportunity for children across Neath Port Talbot.”
