Ospreys take flight as the Rugby World Cup in Japan beckons.
7 Magnificent Ospreys have arrived in Japan to represent the region including Bonymaen Rugby Club hero and Welsh Captain, Alun Wyn Jones who is closing in on 250 games for the Ospreys. The Swansea-born Lock will lead the country through a pool including Georgia, Uruguay, Australia and Fiji.
Team Cymru will start their campaign at the City of Toyota stadium, Toyota on Monday 23 September against Georgia and 6 more Ospreys will be hoping to start beside their captain. Club Captain and Trebanos Rugby Club’s Justin Tipuric will be hoping to line up alongside fellow Ospreys Adam Beard, George North, Nicky Smith, Aled Davies and Owen Watkin.
The Magnificent Seven not only represent their country but the success of our region. This World Cup is one last hurrah for Warren Gatland who will give up the reins after 12 years as Wales Head Coach having led them to number one in the world for a brief period. Gatland also picked 13 Ospreys in his first squad, more than any other team!
Having lost their number one status during their recent friendlies with Ireland, Wales will be hoping their Ospreys players can fly in to lead them to World Cup success. Rugby is in our DNA and we will be watching all of our black-blooded Ospreys proudly in their quest to bring the World Cup home to Wales.
