The Ospreys medical team have issued the following update on a number of players who are currently unavailable due to injury.
Tyler Ardron
Tyler has suffered minor complications following surgery to deal with the dislocated thumb sustained in the Ulster match in October. He had a further surgical procedure pre-Christmas and we will know more regarding his return to play progress once the latest procedure has settled.
Bradley Davies
He is continuing his rehabilitation from knee surgery at the end of November under the eyes of the WRU medical team. We are in daily contact with the Union and will continue to monitor his progress.
Ben John
Ben is progressing well following groin surgery. He will step up his return over the next couple of weeks and, if all goes well, could be looking at getting some game time against Newcastle in Europe, or featuring in the Anglo Welsh Cup the week after.
Owen Watkin
Owen is still going through rehab following an ACL reconstruction. He’s in the early stages as far as his running progression is concerned and, at the moment, it is too early to talk about his return to play.
Rhys Webb
Rhys has returned to the region for the latter stages of his rehab and has started reintegrating into training. If all goes well, he could potentially be available for selection in the Newcastle game.
Meanwhile, there are updates on three players following the New Year’s Day win over the Dragons.
Hanno Dirksen and Kieron Fonotia
Both players are being assessed through the HIA protocols.
Dafydd Howells
Daf was withdrawn as a precaution ahead of kick-off on Sunday after feeling his hamstring. He will be assessed over the new day or two before a decision can be made on his availability for selection at the weekend.
