With the next round of the Heineken Champions Cup approaching, we took a look at Montpellier Hérault’s dangermen.
From the leading carrier in the tournament to a world cup winner, here’s this week’s Ones to Watch.
Zach Mercer
Last year’s Top 14 player of the year, Zach Mercer has been lighting it up for Montpellier. Mercer’s performances, both domestically and in Europe, have been game-changing for the French team, which has led to the No.8 returning to the England setup. Mercer also leads the Heineken Champions Cup in carries this year.
Cobus Reinach
When the Ospreys visited Montpellier, Cobus Reinach showed sparks of what he’s about. A prime example was seen after the scrum half called a mark from a clearing kick, took it quickly and sprinted down the right touchline past three Ospreys before kicking behind the defence. The scrum half is an experienced, World Cup winner and also owns the record for the fastest hat trick in World Cup history (3 tries in 11 minutes).
Yacouba Camara
Captain for Montpellier Hérault, Camara is leader on the field. The back row/lock is a powerful runner with some great handling ability. His style and size often forces an extra tackler to commit to him, couple this with his offload ability and you’re left with a mismatch creator.
We know it's a late kick-off, but we need as many fans as possible in the stadium to cheer on the boys as they look to go two from two and fight for Heineken Champions Cup qualification.
