Following summary judgment today in the High Court regarding Neath RFC and the continuing litigation pursued by Geraint Hawkes, the Ospreys remain deeply saddened by the unnecessary diversion which this legal action is proving for the region.
The Ospreys are however extremely pleased that the court has recognised the position of Mike Cuddy as an Ospreys director and ruled that he should remain in this role. Mike Cuddy has shown extraordinary commitment and drive in developing the Ospreys and achieving the level of success the region has to date, and the Ospreys are therefore delighted that this is to continue for the future.
The Ospreys remain full square behind the continued development of regional rugby in Wales and especially throughout South West Wales. With the start of the new season weeks away, our attention is on the challenges that lie ahead on the pitch. It is sincerely hoped that matters in relation to Neath RFC are resolved speedily and amicably, so that the focus of the Ospreys can remain on matters of the game itself and the development of rugby within the entire rugby family of the region.
