As another season draws to a close, Ospreys in the Community is celebrating a year of success with a 20 per cent rise in the number who watched the team in action through the group ticketing scheme.
The scheme, available to clubs and schools across the region and beyond, has enjoyed some notable achievements, with in excess of 8,000 tickets sold in total, providing youngsters with the opportunity to watch live rugby at the Liberty Stadium with friends and family.
Highlights included the Scarlets game in October, where 1,528 people attended through the scheme, off the back of a pre-match tournament for U12-14s, and a busy schedule of half-time tag, with in excess of 1,000 tickets also sold for each of the late season games against Leinster and Connacht
Paul Whapham, Foundation Manager, Ospreys in the Community, said:
“Our group ticketing scheme has delivered fantastic results throughout the season, bringing more young people than ever to the Liberty Stadium for the unbeatable thrill of live rugby.
“The ticketing strategy continues to grow and evolve, but is central to both the aims of Ospreys in the Community and the wider Ospreys Rugby business, putting community clubs, schools and young children in general at the heart of what we do. By giving them the opportunity to come and watch first class rugby at the Liberty Stadium with their friends, we are encouraging what we hope will be a lifelong passion for rugby and for the Ospreys in particular.”
Huw Warren, Head of Commercial, welcomed OitC’s ticketing success, saying:
“The success enjoyed by Ospreys in the Community and the group ticketing scheme is something we can all take great pride in. A 20 per cent increase in the number of tickets sold through the scheme and a 13% rise in revenue is an impressive return and the entire team deserves a welcome pat on the back for their efforts.
“The challenge for everybody next season, community and commercial teams alike, will be to continue growing ticket sales off the back of some exciting additions to the squad such as George North and Scott Williams, building on this outstanding performance by OitC and the excellent start to season membership sales that sees us well over 70 per cent towards our yearly target with five weeks until the renewal deadline in June, and four months until next season gets underway.”
