In the buildup to our game against Connacht Rugby, we took a quick look at their squad and some players to watch out for during the game.
Conor Oliver –
Described as a back row “enforcer”, the flanker had a breakout season last season and is continuing to build on this with more strong performances this year.
The abrasive flanker picked up man of the match in Connacht’s bonus point win over the Scarlets last week, definitely one to keep an eye on.
Jack Carty –
Captain for Connacht, the fly half is known for his playmaking and rapid line breaks through opposition defences.
Be prepared for some grubbers and chips, the Irishman has a great eye for space in behind the defensive line.
John Porch –
There have been some whispers around the elusive winger being called up to the Australian squad and the Irish squad (would be available for Ireland after another year at Connacht). In this case, there’s no smoke without fire.
Porch has been hailed for his high ball game recently and is always a solid bet to come down with possession, even in traffic. Add his improved kicking game to that and you’re looking at a dangerman.
