A sum of £2,871.70 has been donated to the Jerry Collins Memorial Fund by the Ospreys Supporters Club, which was raised at the PRO12 game versus Munster at the Liberty Stadium last month.
‘JC’ died in tragic circumstances, along with his wife Alana, following a road traffic accident in France at the start of June. The couple’s young daughter, Ayla, survived, albeit it with ongoing medical issues, and is now being cared for in Canada by Alana’s family.
The first home game of the new season was dedicated to JC, with the impressive total being raised by supporters on the day via collections and a raffle.
Nigel Jones, OSC Chairman, said:
"Pre and post match during the Munster game, the Ospreys Supporters Club were involved in a fundraising collection for the Jerry Collins Memorial Trust Fund. Committee members undertook an official bucket collection, which raised a staggering £2171.70.
“There was also a raffle in the Riverside Lounge which raised £400. In addition, a further sum of £250 was raised after the winner of the signed Ospreys jersey in the raffle kindly returned the shirt to the OSC, which was subsequently auctioned.
“The total sum therefore raised was a magnificent £2821-70. A big thank you must go to each and every supporter who very generously donated to support this very worthwhile cause."
Nigel’s comments are echoed by everybody at Ospreys Rugby.
