Rugby clubs in South West Wales have been busy collecting unwanted and outgrown kit for Charity during the last month.
During the Wales v Fiji weekend SOSirbKitAid volunteers called at over 20 clubs in the Ospreys and Scarlets regions to collect donation of kit and equipment that will be sent to less well-off children in emerging nations.
Volunteer coordinator Ken Thomas said, "This was our first attempt at a collection and we have been overwhelmed by the response. We have collected over 2,000 items in one weekend which equals what we collected for the whole of last year."
The charity was also supported by Rugbi Supplies, Llandarcy, Universal Haulage, Bridgend & Swansea Round Table, who provided vans and covered the cost of fuel.
"We are now looking to make this an annual event during September each year and several other clubs have promised to collect in future" said Ken.
"Our ultimate aim is to create links between the donor and recipient clubs in future years."
