Youngsters across Ospreylia are being offered the chance to pick up tips from some of the best rugby coaches in Wales this summer at the Ospreys 2009 Summer Camps.
Children aged between seven and twelve will enjoy the chance to develop their basic rugby skills under the expert guidance of the Ospreys Community Rugby Development Officers at courses taking place at Pyle RFC and at the Ospreys training HQ at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport throughout August. Some of the Ospreys players will also be turning up during the camps to cast their eyes over the youngsters and to lend a hand on the training pitch.
As well as coaching sessions and a chance to meet the players, all participants will receive a complimentary ticket for an Ospreys fixture and a goodie bag containing exclusive Ospreys goodies.
Roger Blyth, Ospreys Managing Director said:
"The Ospreys Summer camp is a brilliant opportunity for children across the region to learn new skills from expert coaches and have the chance to meet members of the squad. The training camps are yet another example of the way in which we are interacting with young supporters across the region, spreading the Ospreys message and building long term relationships with the next generation of rugby supporters and players."
Ospreys and Wales star Dan Biggar, a recent product of the Ospreys Academy said:
"It doesn't seem that many years ago that I was a schoolboy who couldn't wait to take advantage of any opportunity to pick up a rugby ball and get out onto the pitch, so I can appreciate what an exciting opportunity these training camps offer to youngsters in the region.
"The chance to take part in organised coaching sessions like this, with visits from some of the players is a fantastic opportunity that is bound to prove very popular, with the youngsters, the coaches and even us players. Training camps like this are a great way for us to get to get involved with youngsters across the region. I know that all the players love getting involved with helping young rugby players learn the sport. After all, we've all been in their position ourselves, as starry eyed youngsters taking our first steps in the game."
The two day training camps are open to both boys and girls and operate on the following dates:
