Ospreys announce signing of Dan Kasende

The Ospreys announced this week that Dan Kasende would be joining the team on a permanent deal from the Toyota Cheetahs in October 2024.

Kasende quickly established himself as a fan-favourite in his stint at the Ospreys last season, with the fans quickly adopting his “Postman” nickname, coined from his ability to deliver when it matters.

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kasende played his first game for the Cheetahs against Western Province in 2021. He was also part of the Cheetahs side that won the Currie Cup in 2023.

An explosive winger, Kasende has the ability to make a man miss and the burners to punish opposition defences.

Speaking on the move, Kasende said: “I’m excited to be re-joining the Ospreys. Even from the brief time I spent at the club, it was easy to see that there’s a great setup there, with quality coaches and players.

“I really enjoyed my time at the club last season and l’m looking forward to joining up with the boys again and pushing on this season.”

Head Coach, Toby Booth, said: “Dan made a really good impression on the coaching staff when he came in on loan from the Cheetahs last season. He’s an exciting player that has the ability to get fans off their seats.

“Dan integrated seamlessly into the squad last time he was here and offers us some quality depth on the wing.”
