The Ospreys announced today that they had signed hooker Ethan Lewis to bolster their options in the front row.
Lewis was most recently at the Saracens where he spent two years after a loan spell at the English Champions. Lewis made over 25 appearances during his time there, including 14 appearances in the Premiership.
A strong well-rounded hooker, Lewis is also a powerful ball-carrier. Prior to signing for Saracens, the former Wales u20 was plying his trade for Cardiff Rugby, where he made over 60 appearances.
Speaking on his move, Lewis said:
“It’s great to be back in Wales with the Ospreys. I’ve really improved my game in my time at the Saracens, which I’m truly grateful for. But now it’s time for me to embrace a new challenge and further my development with the Ospreys.
“There’s some big competition and quality in every position here, especially in the hooker role, and I’m looking forward to getting started. I can't wait to pull on the Ospreys jersey and to hopefully help the team achieve its ambitions."
Head coach, Toby Booth, said:
“Ethan adds some much-needed depth at the hooker role for us and we know he can make a positive contribution with his quality.
“He’s improved a lot during his time with the Saracens and we’re hoping he can bring those experiences here and pass on some of that knowledge to our younger players coming up.”
