Ospreys to “Brave the Shave”

Players and staff from the Ospreys are shaving their heads tomorrow to raise money for Macmillan

On Tuesday afternoon Ospreys players and staff will be “braving the shave” and shaving their heads to raise money for Macmillan.

Lloyd Ashley, who got the team involved, explained why:

“Macmillan are a fantastic charity and we’re delighted to be able to raise money for them by getting involved in this year’s “Brave the Shave”. Cancer is such a terrible disease that has touched people at the Ospreys families and friends lives and can affect anyone at any time. Hopefully as a group we can raise some money to help towards the incredible work that Macmillan do”.

Macmillan Fundraising Manager Mike Houghton said:

“We really appreciate the Ospreys’ players shaving their heads to support Macmillan. The money raised will help us to continue to fund services for people affected by cancer in Wales.

“It will help us to continue to fund our nurses, doctors, dieticians physiotherapists, welfare benefits advisers and information centres across Wales.

“In the Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board area, which covers Ospreylia, 19,000 people are living with cancer. Each year, 3,086 people are diagnosed with and 1,445 people die from cancer.

“By 2030 in Wales, nearly 250,000 people will be living with and beyond cancer. We rely on people giving their time to fundraise for Macmillan so that we can support people in Wales affected by cancer.

“The generous actions of the Ospreys’ players in raising money by having their heads shaved will help ensure that no-one faces cancer alone.”
