The latest in the ongoing series of specialist clinics for coaches in Ospreylia took place at Llandarcy on Wednesday evening.
Hosted by the Ospreys Coach Development Department, the session was led by Jason Lewis, WRU/Ospreys Community Development Manager, with the assistance of Alun Wyn Davies, District U16 coach for Swansea and current Swansea RFC player, and focused strongly on the development of individual and small unit skills. Great emphasis was placed on body profiling and on each individual understanding the importance of his own role within the unit.
Tony Thomas, Coach development Officer for the Ospreys, said:
“The feedback from the coaches present was very positive. Coaches were left with the clear understanding that the more emphasis that was placed on the role of the individual, the more successful would be the entire unit. We would like to express our appreciation for the contribution of Alun who was able to transfer his personal experience at the coalface for the benefit of all present.”
The next coaching clinic for coaches in the Ospreys Region, will be held at Llandarcy at 7 p.m. on Wednesday 26th August. Jonathan Humphreys will lead the session which will be on the topic of ‘The Lineout’.
These sessions are becoming increasingly popular and we would urge ALL coaches to take advantage of the opportunity to experience cutting edge coaching.
