The new group was made possible through the generous funds raised during OitC’s most recent Ride 2 Rugby, which saw the group travel from Swansea to Dublin
Helen John, who heads up Sporting Memories, said: “We are incredibly excited to launch the new Sporting Memories group in Porthcawl, especially as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ospreys in the Community. We were really happy with how well the new group was attended and even more so by how well it was received.
“Our Sporting Memories initiative provides an invaluable space for individuals to share their experiences and build lasting friendships. We believe that the memories of sports can greatly enhance well-being and bring joy to our community, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact this group will have.”
Neil Navarra, Fundraising Manager for Ospreys in the Community said: “Thanks to the collective efforts of the cyclists and sponsors of last year’s Ride 2 Rugby, we were able to raise £58,000, which helped to directly support this Sporting Memories group.
“Everyone at OitC extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those who participated and contributed to our Bike Ride; your support is making a meaningful difference. Led by a dedicated team of volunteers, the new Sporting Memories group in Porthcawl will meet weekly, offering members a chance to connect over their passion for sports, forge new friendships, and engage in enriching conversations.
