Ospreys in the Community will be a running a part-time Summer Traineeship Programme based at Llandarcy Academy of Sport this Summer with a number of workshops and sessions that will allow all learners the opportunity to:
- Gain work experience with Ospreys in the Community
- Learn about the different opportunities available in further education, volunteering, coaching and employment
- Gain a Sports Leaders UK Qualification
- Develop employability skills
The programme will run for four weeks between the 25th of July and 17th August with 21 hours of learning per week, based at Llandarcy Academy of Sport linking with Neath Port Talbot College. You will also earn £30 per week, plus receive transport allowance and a ticket to an upcoming Ospreys game upon completion.
The aim of the programme is to provide and support real exit routes into volunteering, coaching, further education and employment.
The project will look to develop sports leadership skills as well as helping to develop employability skills. Employability workshops will cover a range of topics from skills, qualities, CV writing, interview preparation and techniques. A Sports Leaders UK Course will also be delivered to develop a greater sporting leadership knowledge as well as a St.Johns Ambulance First Aid Course.
The traineeship will also include a visit to the Liberty Stadium and other workplaces, as well as a visit to a Neath Port Talbot College Campus. All of these visits will have the primary aim to give learners a feel and insight into what working at these locations might be like, and get to experience the life of a college student.
Learners will in addition gain experience of working at one of the Ospreys in the Community Summer Rugby Camps and will learn about the opportunities available to them in Further Education, Apprenticeships, Traineeships, Volunteering and work opportunities in the area.
