Northampton Saints visit the Liberty Stadium this Sunday (12.45pm KO) as the Ospreys go back into European battle, for a game that is ‘must win’ for both teams.
The English side head to Ospreylia in fine form, currently sitting second in Pool 1 as well as occupying the same slot in the Aviva Premiership – where they have lost just once all season to date.
They travel west in fine recent form, on the back of four straight wins including the 18-9 victory in Leinster last month that blew Pool 1 right open again. Most recently, the Saints secured a 23-9 win over Harlequins in the Premiership at the weekend, Wales & Lions wing George North scoring one of their two tries, Dylan Hartley grabbing the other.
Leinster lead the pool going into the final two rounds of fixtures, but there is still everything to play for with all four teams in the pool still retaining a possibility of progressing to the knockout stages.
For the Ospreys, they will be looking to build on victory over French champs Castres in the last round with a win over the Saints that could see them travel to Dublin the following weekend still in contention – dependent on the outcome in France where Castres host Leinster.
Northampton blew the pool wide open last month when they bounced back from a 7-40 bonus point hammering at home to Leinster to go to the Aviva Stadium a week later and upset the odds, inflicting a 9-18 win against the Irish province.
