Duncan Jones and Sam Lewis have helped to re-open Pontlliw Park playground following an extensive refurbishment and improvement programme
The programme, which was carried out in partnership between Pontlliw and Tircoed Community Council and the City and County of Swansea, saw more than £20,000 spent on new equipment and the refurbishment of existing equipment has now been completed.
To mark the special occasion, Duncan and Sam made a special visit after training where they tried out the new facilities for size with the help of local schoolchildren, having fun and encouraging the youngsters to enjoy an active life.
Speaking on behalf of the Community Council, Mr John Jones, Chairman, said:
“The Community Council is delighted to have been able to carry out these improvements. The playground now has equipment suitable for children of all ages and children with special needs. It is a great facility for the community.”
Duncan Jones said:
“It was great to come along and see the happy faces of the children using the new equipment. It was also good fun to be able to try out some of it! Hopefully the park will prove to be popular with local children, encouraging them to spend time outside with their friends, as it is so important to encourage youngsters to remain fit and active.”
