With the Urdd Eisteddfod taking place in Swansea during half-term, the Ospreys have had a presence on-site, with community coaches putting hundreds of children through a series of skills sessions.
Player Development Officer Tom Cole had led a team at the Maes in Felindre all week, with sessions taking place throughout each day, while the OSC have also been in attendance, helping to man the Ospreys stall.
Tom Cole said:
“It’s been a fantastic week with children from right across Wales visiting, and we’ve been able to put hundreds of them through their paces. They’ve all thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and as development coaches, we’ve had a brilliant time working with them. In many cases, it’s been the first time they’ve ever had any kind of rugby coaching, so hopefully we’ve managed to inspire some of them to take up the game properly.
“The Urdd Eisteddfod is such a massive part of Welsh youth culture, which is why it is important that we’ve been here, given the important role that the Ospreys, and rugby in general, plays in the local community. We want to reach as many people in the region as we can, because we represent them, and want them to support us.”
