Speaking ahead of the campaign, coach Tom Smith said:
“We are really looking forward to kicking things off this weekend. It’s our third year playing in this competition now so there are boys in the squad who have had the experience and have started to grow over the last couple of years. It’s a really good opportunity for the youngsters involved to play a standard up and show what they’ve got.
“There’s a good few young backs on show, with a few boys making their debuts in the system and this competition. The team is fairly youthful as a whole and are really excited to get started. They’ve shown glimpses of what they can do at Premiership level, so it’s now time to see if they can do that at this level.
“Forward wise we’ve got some exciting talent that has been in and around the senior squad who we’ll be looking to put in good performances against new opposition.
“We haven’t really seen a lot of the Munster A team we are going to play but we expect them to play a lot like their first team which we all know is a really big challenge. We’ll obviously have to have our wits about us, but the fixtures that we’ve had against them in the past have been really exciting with both sides showing great intent to play rugby.”
Tickets are available from St Helen’s on the day only. Admission is £10, Students and U16’s free.
