Ospreys Rugby Appoints Richard Lancaster as New Commercial Director

Ospreys Rugby is delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Lancaster as the new Commercial Director. A Swansea native, Richard brings a wealth of experience and a strong local connection to the role, underscoring the club’s commitment to become the hub of the community.

Richard Lancaster joins Ospreys Rugby from Swansea University, where he has played a key role in the Swansea Bay City Deal Campuses project including the development of a sports innovation centre in Swansea. His leadership has also led to the creation of the National Network for Innovation in Sport & Health (NNIISH).

During his tenure at Swansea University, Richard also played a pivotal role in elevating the Welsh Varsity into a major student sporting event. His extensive experience spans commercial partnerships, major events, fundraising, marketing, and communications, making him a versatile and highly skilled professional. Including numerous rugby related roles, his involvement in the development of PROTECHT mouthguards, and Head of Development and Engagement at Swansea University.

Richard joins the club at an exciting time, with the Ospreys’ planned move to the iconic St Helen’s Sports Ground from the 25/26 season. 

In his new role, Richard will be in charge of crafting and implementing commercial strategies. Additionally, he will lead the Commercial team, focusing on cultivating robust, effective, and enduring relationships with partners.
