Following a call from John Plumtree, his former coach at Wellington, Jason Spice is to extend his holiday in New Zealand to help them out at scrum half. Jason will return to the Ospreys in mid September, having covered for Wellington in a position where they have been hard hit by international call-ups
Comment from Head Coach, Lyn Jones:
"When we signed Jason from Wellington two years ago John Plumtree allowed him an early release from his NPC contract, giving Jason a full pre season with us and valuable time to settle into our squad. This demonstrated the level of cooperation and spirit that still exists within professional rugby and with Wellington having to some extent become a victim of their own success at scrum half, due to Piri Wipu’s involvement in the tri-nations, it was now time for us to return the favour. Jason is keen to help out and this means it is not a difficult decision for us to make. He will join up with Wellington for about eight weeks, returning to us in good shape to compete with Justin Marshall for the Ospreys number nine spot”
