Head Coach, Steve Tandy, commented:
“We’re looking forward to a Welsh derby in Bridgend this Friday night after enjoying going back to Neath last weekend. Despite the weather, it was a successful evening off the field, and there was enough on the pitch that we could take from the experience to say it was extremely worthwhile.
“The scoreboard was disappointing, and that reflected Saracens’ greater accuracy in key areas, they were pretty clinical when ever they were in our territory and kept their discipline while weren’t able to make the most of some good opportunities. Saying that, there was lots to be pleased about, and with an extra week to work together ahead of Friday’s game we’re expecting some big improvements in key areas.
“There’s a good blend to this selection, with some more senior boys stepping back into the team alongside some of the youngsters who are showing up well at the moment. This will be another real test for the group, the Dragons will be up for it, will be their usual physical self, and there is always the spice attached to a derby match. The names may be different to those involved at Rodney Parade in September but there will still be head to head contests between players who know each other from regional and national age-grade keen to get the better of each other.
“We always get a great welcome in Bridgend and are expecting similar again on Friday night. The weather forecast is improving and it should be a decent night for rugby so hopefully we’ll get a good crowd from the local community supporting their region at their local club.”
