The Ospreys senior and academy squad have suspended on site training at Llandarcy Academy of Sport from this week with players following individually tailored programmes remotely.
After ongoing developments in the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) the decision was made to stop training at our base with the health and wellbeing of all players and staff being the utmost priority.
Head of physical performance, Simon Church said: “The squad have taken gym equipment from our own gym with them so they can still train by themselves at home. They have been given a programme to follow and are sent a daily monitoring email to complete.”
“Each individual has their own GPS unit which will be downloaded and reported back by our sports science team remotely."
“As well as four gym sessions, they’ll also complete two power endurance sessions and four running sessions a week.”
The physiotherapy team at the Ospreys have also put a strategy in place for delivering treatment and rehab for players and rehabbers, whilst at the same time complying as best we can with the distancing protocols to minimise group contact.
Any player appearances that were scheduled to take place both commercially and alongside Ospreys in the Community have also been postponed.
The Ospreys will endeavour to keep supporters up to date with the latest developments on our website and across all our social media channels.
