In an exciting development, the Ospreys announced that Garyn Phillips has signed a contract to remain with the team.
Phillips joined the Ospreys academy back in the 2020/21 season and quickly rose through the ranks to make his senior debut in the same season against Zebre Parma in the league.
The young prop has picked up 19 appearances already for the Ospreys since then and has represented Wales at u20 level on two occasions during his career.
The Ospreys' Head Coach, Toby Booth, said: "Garyn has come a long way since making his debut for us and he’s improving every day. Securing his talents for the coming years ensures that we continue to strengthen our front row with top-notch Welsh talent.
“He’s already played a strong amount of rugby for a front rower of his age, and that’s been crucial in his development. His work with Duncan Jones has really paid off and we all have seen the benefits.”
Reflecting on his new contract, Phillips shared: “I’m really happy to continue my journey with the Ospreys. I’m grateful for the opportunity to further my career here, and work with some of the best coaches and most talented players in Wales. I'm excited about what we can achieve together.”
This announcement comes at a time when the Ospreys are looking to bolster their squad and are making significant strides in both the BKT URC and EPCR Challenge Cup competitions. Phillips' development and retention are seen as critical to the club's long-term strategy, which focuses on sustainable success through the cultivation of Welsh talent.
As Garyn Phillips looks to the future with the Ospreys, fans can expect to see his continued rise as one of Welsh rugby's most promising front rowers. With a new contract in hand and a clear path ahead, Phillips is set to make his mark and contribute to the Ospreys' ambitions for the future.
