The Ospreys hit the road to face the Dragons in the Welsh derby clash in the Guinness PRO14 at the Morganstone Brewery Field in Bridgend on Saturday, March 6th at 7.35pm.
The Morganstone Brewery Field will be the fourth home venue used by the Ospreys during this campaign, as the regional franchise demonstrates its commitment to taking games around the region.
This will be the 13th time that the Ravens have hosted the Ospreys since a game was first taken to Bridgend in 2010 when Leicester Tigers were beaten 46-13 in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.
The Ospreys last played at the Morganstone Brewery Field when they faced Ulster back in February 2019.
Andrew Millward, the Ospreys Managing Director, said:
“The decision to play in Bridgend demonstrates our commitment to our region and our support to the clubs in the Ospreys region during these unprecedented times.
“The Ospreys are proud to represent all 77 clubs in our region and we have made no secret of our ambition to embrace them and to take games across the region over the coming seasons.”
While the Ospreys are based at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea, the Ospreys regional franchise stretches from Wales’ second city to Port Talbot, Aberavon and as far as Bridgend, taking in rugby clubs in the towns and villages across the region.
Robin Thomas, Brewery Field Facilities Director, said:
'We are delighted to host the Ospreys at the Morganstone Brewery Field on the 6th March. Ironically, the match marks the anniversary of the last match played at the stadium before the Coronavirus pandemic hit when Bridgend faced Carmarthen Quins.
“Although there has been no rugby at the ground since then, we have continued to maintain the playing surface to ensure that it is ready to host top class rugby and we have been able to press on with improving the stadium facilities.
“We have been able to provide a Covid secure environment in anticipation of play resuming and we've got a safe facility for spectators to return when it's safe to do so.
“We're very pleased to continue our strong relationship with everyone at the Ospreys and we look forward to welcoming them.”
The game will be live on S4C (English commentary on Red button), Premier Sports and eir Sport 2.
